Our main hero is Johan from Turku, Finland however in the beginning Ghetto B-Botz were the boyz indeed — two of them having a noble intention to produce hip-hop. Weirdly enough their output turned out to be nothing like hip-hop but apparently a classic acid house instead. Following a strong debut was a longer break whereafter only Johan found his way back to the band pushing the sound towards harsher and noiser aesthetics Ghetto B-Boyz are now known for. At the same time he continued expanding musically by adapting several alter egos like Casio Yamaha and Superjohan for his house and electro explorations. Whatever the style Johan’s music is raw and groovy consisting of few basic elements put together in a second to none effectiveness. simple and tight, you can’t help but submit to the beat!
Well, this is making enough buzz, and deserves a post.
It happened a few weeks ago. Girls, who just finished their DJ course at Ritma Institus came to S:G to celebrate. It was a Saturday night. DJ Moro was plating. At one moment he wanted to take a rest a bit, so he asked Didzis, if he can take care of decks for a while. Didzis knew Madara (Foxy’s real name) and forward this duty to her. And then she started to play, not even with her CDs. And that was a turning point: suddenly the girl was playing the right stuff, at the right place to the right audience… and everybody loved it. And she is turning 18 in few weeks. We all were waiting for fresh emotions on this scene, and surprisingly they came from Dobeles pagasts.
Now Mandy says, last Saturday’s set changed her life and opened the eyes for new perspectives. Ah, thanks! This is one of the best things we can do.

First we want to kind of apologize to those who were expecting Jimmy Edgar playing Live last Sunday. So were we. We don’t know what was the reason why he switched to DJ. Its clear that it took some courage for people to come on Sunday after such active Friday and Saturday. Respect for that. Not our fault. But Sorry.

Friday is Space Textures ||| Pre-Party. Space Textures is an event within the frameworks of Balta nakts and its dedicated to “academic” side of electronic music. If you remember, over past years the event was hosting such people as Monolake, Biosphere, Vladislav Delay and others. This year is no exception and Space Textures is going to happen in Rigas Cirkus (!) with artists such Seefeel (rare opportunity to see them!), Octex, Zavoloka and others.
So, yes, and there will be pre-party in Space:Garage on Friday.
