…the strange things are happening, when there is a direction and aim to make things better…working hard on it…it’s so called progress..
but it’s getting worse sometimes…why?
so maybe let’s try how to regress? :))
.
well,about the weather…
the point is that “space:garage” is a summer club like “bar25″ in berlin and there is nothing to do with that.
sure that there are no clubs like this in riga and no place for people like us to party, sure it’s sad a bit but it looks really ugly when it’s cold and pretending to be more or less normal club.
even if it’s warm inside.
the very special atmosphere is dissapearing, because the biggest and main fun for all of us is to see the rising sun when the music is playing… it’s really something..it connecting people more than nokia! it’s about the weather, dear friends…
the weather in all transcriptions and meanings..
here we go about organization…
big event, everything is serrious.. okay.. we see..
everyone in the team works hard to make it better.. i believe it’s hard, i can imagine…
all is well…
but you know i’ve noticed very strange thing during the party.. suddenly some guy with his laptop and controllers appeared and started to plug his devices… kollektiv turmstasse even didn’t took their equipment off from the stage, and it was my time to play and there were too many people near turntables and i asked this guy: ” are you in lineup?”so he said “yes”…
i was shocked…he started to play… nothing personal, but to my mind(and i’m not alone in this feeling) the concept of the all event was destroyed in few minutes…it’s just another vibe…
ok,later i got the explanation that he is the dj from iceland and bla bla bla. he was playing on another event in riga several hours ago..and he is kinda friend of ‘gus gus’…and bla bla bla…
so does it mean that next time, anytime in “space:garage”the random man who is a friend of “bjork”, for example, can start to play anytime he wants?!the club is kinda very friendly and open for all of talents, but why not saturday??
with even no explanation to people who where thinking and taking care of musical concept of this event?!
to my mind it’s wrong…
i think that’s the way how posh clubs are making money and promote the strangest acts…like westbam…most of the people who have no time to know what happens in electronic music just recognize this magic word “westbam”.they remember that there was something connected with techno…or rave…that’s enough!!!
…sure i’m not talking about dj from iceland,he is a nice guy and he plays interesting mp3’s from ableton live…i also was breaking the party with “can i play my record?” when i was too drunk…
but i never did it without ask…it’s too risky you know…
so all this critics goes to promouters..cheers,my friends..it’s a hard way to success if you are in show business..)just mind that content is maybe the most important thing…
…..i was very happy and proud to meet kollektiv turmstrasse in riga, because i listened and showed their demo live set to zagga long time ago,in may or start of june, when even the thought about “kts” playing in “space:garage” seemed unreal like meeting “zz-top” in our own bedroom in the morning…but who believed that ‘gus gus’ will be partying here in ’space:garage’?)i was wondering that they played in riga in fact…thanx god..
“kts” are really nice openminded amd talented guys. i’m glad to meet you, niko and christian!!!
it’s a great thing that you ve’ played in “space:garage”!!!
..it’s my own felling, but i was a bit sad that there was no big difference between “kts demo live set” and their “live” here in riga…
okay,i’m mad sound addicted freak, but it’s not only my own opinion.. but maybe nobody will say it here, ecxept me, and i believe that it will help to ‘kts’ become even more massive electronic live duo in nearest future… though this speech is more okay for some “music makers chat” and bla bla bla))
i never read bullshit like that)
and i never posted any comment in my life, that’s da first one,so take it easy folks!)
Thanks for your comment, my friend, its in the right place to be and i’d just love to have more comments and different opinions here.
I dont want to comment much the weather issue.
We are not going to stop, because you think its a bad weather.
And basicly, we are not going to stop if someone is saying bad things about the club. We believe in this. Of cause, it would be great just to fall asleep in winter and wake up in the summer. But its winter, and you have to deal with this. And i dont like bar25 at all..
The Margeir-Andrei issue.
Shit situation. I agree. But in my strong believe its a part of a professional dj career to deal and solve situations like this.
If i would write a post every time you interrupted my sets, Andrei, we would run out of space here. You say, you asking.. yeah, you do.. but the very only time you reacted to my negative answer, was when i said fuck off.
If we go deeper in friday situation, there was a problem.. perhaps Moment people overforced it a bit.. saying to Margeir that everybody is waiting for him etc.. I not sure if they asked me..
But, anyway, my rule: djs get along themselves. I mean, i never go to dj saying: you play till 2 o\clock. Its the next dj going to him and asks: how long are you gpoing to play, arent you tired etc..
Of cause there is a line-up and schedule and stuff, but still..
Djs are not the kids, and if they feel the party, they know what to do. Another rule: dont sacrifice the whole atmosphere and the vibe in the name of your personal ambition. Thats why i always let you “put your record” instead of starting a fight, that would kill everybodys mood and destroy the party. (though, my mood is usually destroyed after that..)
I agree regarding KTS, i expected more of live! action.
But really, nothing can replace the fact, that we got a new great friends. And.. thats in the name.. you know.
Summing it all up:
1. Fuck the weather. (and heating is on the way.. btw)
2. Sorry for unclear situation with Margeir, but admit, there should be a karma balance. Now you know how painful it is, when someone interrupts your set.
3. Peace and love! :)
Although there are some unwritten rules and limits, I’m always flexible as regards the schedule, b2b DJing etc., trying to respect other fellow DJs, feel the situation and think what would be better for the party in general at that particular moment. I believe there should be some flexibility, that concerns also music itself, for instance, it happens that I’ve planned to play just pure minimal stuff, but when I feel like I should switch to something more pop/electro/ravey/whatever, I usually go ahead. In fact, I also could complain, because I started late and had a rather short set before KT, so couldn’t play all the records I wanted (and flying with a record case and often even paying for extra weight is not a big fun, after all)and I could asume that an extra DJ would make less time for a “jam session” afterwards… but when Margeir started, I didn’t complain at all, quite contrary, I enjoyed what he played. Plus I think such surprises and unplanned DJs sometimes animate an event. On the hand, even if a DJ is rather well known and he is playing free of charge, it doesn’t mean that he shouldn’t respect the same rules (and other DJs), I remember the Venetian Snares guy playing at Skanu Mezs, who was ready to fight just to continue DJing some extra hours - it may suck…
About the party in general. I also felt some tension in the air, and maybe it wasn’t so brilliant and uplifting as it could be, but, on the other hand, it seemed really OK - good music, people dancing etc. I mean, you can’t always expect a perfect party, there are too many factors that switch together, including all kind of surprises, the weather, moon phase etc., it’s even better to lower your expectations. So, I think that everyone who was involved did their best, and I’m happy that KT was at the Garage. Thanks a lot!
Anyway, it would be nice to hear impressions of common people, who were there without being involved in organisation.
p.s. and one should bear in mind, that SpaceGarage will never be anything close to superclubs like Fabric or Berghain with outstanding technical support, spacey backstages, strict rules… so, it’s OK to have a bit relaxed attitude, call it “underground” if you like.
interesting discussion )
it’s good to see our guys @of-not-too-many-words@ finally speaking )
nd everybody is right..
nothing to add )
just more peace and love! and construction.. of course ;)
talking about KTS performance..
I also left before the end of the gig.. as i wan’t feeling very well the whole day
yeah, it sounded very similar to live promo mix, we all adore
but when i was leaving public seemed to have much fun and that’s good, very good
i enjoyed kamikaza’s and hencha’s sets very uch, by the way
ksenia played unexpectedly vivid tech house
and hencha - very nice more minimal set
whoah, seems that i have missed something in the party :)
didn`t ear that Iceland DJ who made all the fuss, but I really enjoyed KT set and it didn`t matter wether it was or wasn`t too live - the atmosphere was as always nice and friendly and that`s what counts.
Also I think it`s always interesting that party takes an unexpected turn and DJ`s should be more-openminded towards this - sure it`s a bit dissapointing if you get to play a bit later, even more if you don`t get to play at all, but heck, it`s not the last time you`re playing, it`s not the last party - there will be plenty of other good parties and vibes.
it`s a noble thing everyone here is doing, please don`t fight. :)
Fuck For Friendship is a collective of artists, Dj's and other good people united by the power of friendship.
And, if necessary, we are ready to fuck for it!
Besides artistic activities, we operating

In Garage We Trust!
it’s not question of trust
it’s a question of direction
and preferences
well, my thoughts if anyone was interested…
