JOY DIVISION ON THE MISSION *

Hello, dearest friends!
FFF team is back from Minsk, where we had 2 gigs and a lot of fun.
On Sunday we played in Bronx club. It was a great party, but, perhaps, because of Sunday, there wasnt that much people, as we were expecting. We also had a small conflict with the security guy in the end. Zedmitry say sorry for this. The second party was next day, on Monday, in a small Kipriano club. It was one of those spontaneous parties, advertised only on internet forums and via sms. (Thanks to Dj I.F.U). All in all, we had great responce from audience and great living conditions. Big thanks to Yura Le Fleur Du Soleil and our promoter-girls Fucktoreal.
See more photos here and here.

But, as you might expect, there was something else that impressed us the most. We watched some TV, talked to old people on the streets, went to the market and were standing in the cue, waiting for the shop opening at 8 o’clock in the morning… National TV channel is kind of funny to watch, because of very low quality fake. TV is full of lies. Like, for example, absolutely by accident i found this video on youtube. Only week ago i wouldnt found nothing suspicious. But now i clearly see low-quality falsification. Be sure, if they want to scare you, they will show you some horror pictures with drugs, broken bottles, used condoms etc.. The majority of population are scared, and this is fear of changes. Thats why last year’s Estonian riots gained such popularity there - this is perfect showcase of the “future” for them - look, people, what you will get, if you want changes.

So the word of truth should be said (and who needs another lie?):
Most people we met, are young, optimistic, very talented and they understand the truth.
But i think it takes a lot of energy to filter all the crap. And, they clearly not deserved life like this. To be honest, it doesnt seems that situation will change soon. The system is just too strong. I would propose to Belarus youth to travel more, but they hardly will let you out of the country. Or will let you out just once. Kind of a loop. But we promise maximum support from our side. Enough said.
And.. music is a good cure. We feel like we refreshed the city and are refreshed oureselves.

used to know one very active oppositionist from Belarus. the stories i’ve been told… well, let’s just say my mind could not process them normally :)
he had an idea to emigrate to Riga actually, but that would have implied full stop and loads of problems for his family back there (in terms of jobs/travel/etc.), and no way back for him to visit the family.
still hope that this last European dictatorship will come to an end one day. and for a time being - let there be at least music for cure :)

i love minsk! i love these huge prospects and green parks, and, most importantly, the people. the people whom i personally met back in 2002 when i had my gig there seemed so very friendly and good-natured, easy to talk to and also not lacking on the emotional side that made me instantly think i’d love to come back! and i will come back. it’s only militia and military that look a bit spooky wearing their oldskool uniform watching with a kind of threat, as i was crossing the streets of minsk, and me having this slightly uneasy feeling of not exactly belonging to that kind of community control freak system. wish the people of belarus would finally get rid of the dictatorship, without having to be involved into any bloody events whatsoever.

    peace!
